About Me....
Second Grade

Hi! My name is Rebecca Smith. I am so happy to be a second grade teacher at Hokes Bluff Elementary! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My formal education began in the Gadsden City School System and continued to Gadsden State Community College. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from Jacksonville State. I later earned my Masters Degree from the University of Alabama. I am also classified as a Highly Qualified Teacher.

I began teaching at Hokes Bluff Elementary in August of 1994. I taught Kindergarten for 12 years before moving to Second Grade in 2006.

I am married to Don Smith, who is also a teacher at Sardis Middle School. We have two sons. Our oldest son and his family live in the Birmingham area. Our youngest son also works in Birmingham, but lives in Gadsden.

We attend church at North Glencoe Baptist. In my free time I like to spend time with my grandsons, play with our very spoiled boxer Mazie, and garden.

I enjoy working with children and love to see them learn. The greatest reward of teaching is seeing children grow and reach their highest potential.
