Meet The Counselor

Meet Mrs. Ragan

A lil’ about me…

Hi! My name is Tanya Ragan! I graduated from Piedmont High School in 1996, and I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama in 1999! (ROLL TIDE!)
I married my best friend in 2001, Michael Ragan. In 2002, I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Master of Science degree in Community Agency Counseling, and I completed my Ed.S. in School Counseling from JSU in December of 2015.  The best milestone in my life thus far was giving birth to my son, Landon Cole Ragan, on July 15, 2004. In addition to Landon, we have 3 other "children" -- a Blue Heeler (Flossy), a Maltese (Rocky), and a cat (Sally). Obviously my family loves animals, but we also love spending time together! We enjoy riding our bikes together on the Chief Ladiga Trail, playing at the park, going to the beach, and looking for wildlife at Cade’s Cove!
I have been working in the counseling field since 1999. I worked at an adolescent residential facility and for a family-counseling agency. My experiences in these settings were rewarding, and I learned valuable skills in several different areas of counseling (i.e. individual, group, family, and marriage). However, my most enjoyable job ever has been working with children in this setting AND this community. I am grateful to be a part of this community and allowed the opportunity to be at least a small influence in the lives of your children! I am always open to feedback and interested in the opinions of parents, so please send me an e-mail anytime that you have questions or comments for me! I will be periodically updating my web page and informing parents of upcoming counseling events!
