Our Library Mission

The mission of The Hokes Bluff Elementary School Library is to provide an environment that ensures that students and staff can effectively access, process, and use ideas and information. The library media center strives to collect, organize, and facilitate access of information resources in many formats including current technological tools that enhance and reinforce the school curriculum. The Hokes Bluff Elementary School Library provides a stimulating environment for students to use higher-order thinking skills, to become active and experiential learners, to discover, to create, to respect diverse ideas and beliefs and to become lifelong readers and learners.

Our Library Vision

The Hokes Bluff Elementary School Library believes that a library media center should provide materials and information presenting all points of view on current and historical issues. It is our responsibility to provide books and other library resources including technology that are of the interest, information, and enlightenment of all people of the community the library serves. We aspire to develop a community of learners equipped for the future; able to access, break down, and use information as readers, problem solvers, and contributors to society.

About Our Library

The library at Hokes Bluff Elementary is one of the common places all students, teachers, faculty, and staff use. It is a hub for informational access and learning in our school. It offers a variety of print and digital resources. Our diverse collection offers over 10,000 books in print from early readers to reference materials. Students use Destiny Discover to access WebPath Express. WebPath Express provides students and teachers thousands of educator-reviewed and age-appropriate resources for research. Teachers also have access to Standards Search in Destiny Discover. It aids in the quick location of resources that are aligned to specific academic standards. Students also use Clever to access resources for learning including Accelerated Reader, Code.org, online textbooks, and many other educational resources curated by the librarian and classroom teachers.

The library partners with the community. Many special programs involve outside partners to come alongside and work with our school for student learning and success.
